The Boca Raton Resort
The Boca Raton Resort & Country Club was originally founded by architect Addison Mizner as the Cloister Inn in 1926. It sports a Spanish Colonial Mediterranean-style design. When the inn opened Feb. 6, 1926, it was the most expensive 100-room hotel of its time, according to resort historical documents.
The Geist family, which succeeded Mizner as owner, finished construction of the Cloister building in the 1930s. Over the decades the Boca Resort has undergone expansions and renovations and today offers 1,047 guest rooms across several buildings. It also boasts a private beach club, spa and two golf courses.
